Rigid divaricate shrubs. Leaves rigid. Flowers very small, in bracteate clusters on very short spikes in the axils of the previous years’ growth or on the stem below the leaves. Corolla greenish, equaling the calyx or longer; lobes spreading, with a tuft of long hairs on the inner surface at the end. Ovary 2–10-locular; style short. Fruit drupaceous, small, globular or depressed.
