Leaf margin not pale, smooth. Leaves terete or ± flattened at the apex Ovary and fruit not thickened at the apex. Flower heads globular, 4–8 mm diam. Peduncles filiform, ± terete, 7–30 cm long, c. 1 mm wide. Leaves ± terete or linear, 2–12 mm long, c. 1 mm wide. Widespread. On damp soil. Fl. spring–summer Xyris juncea Ovary and fruit thickened at the apex. Flower heads ± ovoid, 8–20 mm long, 5–15 mm diam.
