Leaves hard, not soft and spongy
Packing bracts densely hairy on their abaxial surface making the whole spike velvety
Spike dark brown when flowering. Leaves rhombic in cross-section, 2–4 mm wide, almost erect, glaucous. Scape up to 2m long, c. as long as the spike, 10–30 mm diam. Stem buried or up to 60 cm high not usually branched. Widespread south of Sydney. Heath and DSF. Sandy soils Xanthorrhoea resinosa
