Leaves shortly petiolate entire to deeply divided. Spikes dense at flowering but often elongating in fruit
Leaves deeply pinnately lobed to pinnatifid, up to 7 cm long; upper ones often entire. Spikes elongating in the fruiting stage; the peduncles often becoming leafy just below the spike. Glandular pubescent also with some simple hairs. Corolla lilac, pink, to deep blue. Erect, annual herb up to 1 m high.
Leaves coarsely toothed. Peduncles usually naked for some distance below the spike
