Perianth bristles at least as long as the nut, with reflexed hairs. Culms subterete, usually less than 30 cm high. Spikelets solitary, lateral, c. 4 mm long. Glumes pale brown. Nut plano-convex, smooth. Rarely collected. Nepean River and Manly Dam. Damp places. Probably introd. from Japan Schoenoplectus lineolatus
