Young shoots glabrous or nearly so. Leaf segments erect or ascending but not divaricate and not pungent. Shrub up to 3 m high. Widespread. Heath and DSF, usually on shallow sandy soils over Ss. Fl. spring–summer. Morphological intermediates between this and P. sessilis and P. canescens occur Petrophile pulchella
