Plant covered with long spreading bristles. Leaves pinnatifid; lobes broadly toothed, each tooth ending in a conspicuous bristle. Petals red, c. 12 mm long. Capsule ovoid-oblong. Widespread but not common. Weed of cultivation, waste places and open communities, (may not be native). Native Poppy Papaver aculeatum
