Stems with long (up to 0.5 mm) spreading simple hairs. Leaves alternate above, opposite below, hirsute, linear to lanceolate, 2–5 cm long, dentate. Flowers erect. Petals white to purple, 2–8 mm long. Capsule cylindrical, 3.5–6 mm long, pubescent. Stoloniferous herb up to 1.5 m high. Hornsby and Woronora Plateaus; Blue Mts Damp places. Fl. spring–summer Epilobium hirtigerum
