Culms longitudinally and transversely septate; 4–5 angled. Spikelets 2–3 mm wide. Glumes leathery, many-nerved, greenish to straw-coloured, keeled, margin hyline. Nut surface deeply pitted. Plants to 50 cm high. Swampy areas. Uncommon. Usually North coast. Fl. spring–summer Eleocharis philippinensis
