Leaves entire toothed or coarsely lobed, oblong-lanceolate to broad-oblong, 2–6 cm long, stem-clasping. Heads on solitary terminal peduncles. Involucre 6–10 mm diam.; bracts oblong. Outer female florets, in a single row. Disc florets very numerous, yellow. Cypselas 1–2 mm long; those of the female florets broadly winged, on distinct pedicels; those of the disc florets with a narrow wing, on short pedicels. Glabrous perennial with weak succulent stems.
