Leaves 3-foliolate; leaflets lanceolate to ovate, 3–7 cm long, obtuse or acuminate, obtusely serrulate. Flowers in loosely trichotomous cymes or panicles; the common peduncle shorter than the leaves. Sepals 2 mm long, enlarging to 12 mm in fruit. Petals laciniate. Tall shrub or small tree. Widespread. Open forests, gullies or heath. Sandy soils. Fl. Oct.–Nov. (fruiting Dec.-Jan.).
