Shrubs or trees 2–4 m high. Young shoots not silvery. Filaments white to yellow
Rhachis of the spike densely tomentose to pubescent. Leaves lanceolate, 2–3.5 cm long, 6–8 mm wide, acute or slightly acuminate; veins distinct underneath. Spike c. 3.5 cm long; bracts and bracteoles often persistent until the flowers open. Shrub 2–3 m high with papery bark. Woronora and Hornsby Plateaus. Uncommon. On shale and in RF gullies.
