Glumes glabrous except on the nerves. Lemma 9–12 mm long; awn with 2 bends, 7–11 mm long; the column of the awn 3–4 cm long. Panicle up to 30 cm long. Tufted perennials up to 1.5 m high. Leaf blade 1–7 mm wide, flat to inrolled. Berrima district. DSF and heath. Poor, often sandy soils. Fl. spring–summer Austrostipa semibarbata
